Daily Program includes:
Program Eligibility
For young adults:
At SEC, we are dedicated to the artistic achievement of youth and young adults with challenges. Sec program instructors work directly with persons with disabilities to provide the tools they need to partake in artistic activities, such as visual art, musical performance or creative writing. On occasions, we also invite professional artists and musicians with the training, experience and teaching resources, to join us at SEC to lead our team in the creative process. Participants, who truly express their artistic interest and talent, partake in these classes to truly create works of art in their paintings, drawings, music compositions and poetry and are then given the opportunity to exhibit, perform and sell their work throughout the community and during special events.
SEC provides instruction in drama and dance in a recreational setting that promotes socialization and skills development for young adults with special needs. Through the use of interactive theatre games, role-playing and dramatic storytelling, our participants learn to express themselves. Our drama classes thrive on imagination and teamwork and provide an excellent outlet for creativity. Our dance classes are a great deal of fun and a fantastic way to exercise, building strength and co-ordination in a safe environment.
Our culinary program is designed to inspire the love of cooking and expose our participants in a variety of cooking techniques. We focus on providing a safe and fun environment where the participants learn the basics skills they need to cook safely enjoy it and feel comfortable with cooking. Participants also gather for a luncheon afterwards, to enjoy and share what they have made together.
